#70SportWays (47): the Sinkovic Brothers, Croatian rowing champions
The Sinkovic brothers, the HAŠK Mladost and Croatian rowers who have won almost everything during their time in rowing at the National, European, World Championship and even Olympics Games. Sinkovic brothers have as many as 5 medals from world championships in three different disciplines. Like all the rowers, Martin and Valent Sinkovic started their career as a single, but they won the first championship in quadruple sculls together with Damir Martin (who also won the Olympic medal in Rio) and David Sain.
The guys in the quadruple sculls were twice world champions and won silver at the Olympic games (London 2012), and have also set the world record. In the next Olympic Cycle (2012-2016), the brothers started rowing in the double sculls and also set a world record, won all the world cups and European championships and finished their run with the gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
For the new cycle, after Valents lengthy injury, the brothers returned to the podium at the World Championships once again in a new category: Coxless pair. The boys finished second in their first major competition after having the best semi-final race result. At this point, we change discipline with a sincere goal, with good intentions and with heart – said Valent Sinkovic.
But the story for multisport does not stop here, the guys are also active bikers, skiers and also train biathlon during the winter. You can often find them in a small open championship also with medals around the neck. According to all their coaches and staff, there is now down time for them not even on their days off, they always do some kind of sport. Valent and Martin are human beings literally coming to the limit of human endurance.
“Effort and work are always worth it. I believe that when you are working hard and giving your all it will always be worth it” said Martin Sinkovic during a documentary about them.
